hey, lazy butt, who are you!
today at work, i sneaked out around 3pm down to the nearest newsagents to go buy a coke. and to my surprise, the newsagents was crowded and had a line! infact, the streets themselves were very busy. now i know this is london, and its a very busy and populated city, but seriously, with what seems like non-stop talk about the 9 to 5 work day (and more! for those crazy bankers), who are all the people out in the streets during the middle of the day?
the people i observed were too old to be students, too young to be retired, and too well dressed to be homeless. i guess some of them could have legitimate excuses to be wondering around on a gorgeous day: tourists, late night club bouncers, or even pulling a sickie. but still, there were far too many people out on the street for me to explain away with reasonable excuses....who are they? and why don't they have to work?!!
basically, i want to be them.
oh also, as an addendum to this post, why are all the shops and post offices, etc. open from 9 to 5. Aren't those the hours that most people would be in work and unable to spend their wages? One possible answer..all those lazy jobless people i described above are keeping them in business!
