fun weekend!
friday night i went down to university of chicago area to meet emily who was intown visiting her sister. we went to one of her sister's suitemate's comedy show, pants pants revolution. they were hysterical! at first emily and i were worried that it would be all u of c jokes (like the varsity show is all columbia jokes), but it wasnt. there was pine sol lady, some crazy improv, and at one point, these two girls did a hippieish-coffee house-guitar rendition of "the thong song". it was amazing.
emily came back to hinsdale with me for the night and then we were up again early in the morning to go on a art deco architecture tour downtown. for living in chicago for most of my life, and having always wanted to go on the architecture tours they have downtown, i am glad that in the past two weeks i have finally gone on two. anyway, art deco tour was cool...didnt know there was so much of it in chicago, and it was good to see emily. i always find it a little strange at first though when my school friends mix with home, or home friends mix with school...it feels like two different worlds are colliding. (ooh, good song). i clearly remember that feeling when kern and reks came up to watch the sex and the city finale with me and some other ultimate girls. just seeing rachel and mara sitting next to reks and kern gave me a kind of confusing, strange feeling. it wasnt wrong or bad, but it felt wierd that these two groups of people from such seperate parts of my life were sitting next to each other.
anyway, after a long nap on sat, i headed over to cass's for the bbq! i can't remember the last time i laughed so hard. first we played some volleyball outside on the front lawn (got some awkward stares from people driving by, but eventually we just started waving to them, and they stopped looking at us.) then played beirut..cass and steve vs. amy and me. maybe it was steve's dancing, or the milking the cow hand gestures, or carly throwing the ball into the salsa, or the fact that when i grunt like monica seles while throwing the ball, i hit more cups, but i nearly peed in my pants so many times from laughing so hard. then when we were adequately drunk, we decided swimming would be fun...i felt nauteous when i entered the pool, so i sat in the corner with monica, but it was very entertaining to watch the others chicken fight! so all in all, a good night.
today i'm supposed to be packing for ireland. its 6.30 already and i havent actually opened a suitcase yet. but i finally got all my laundry done. woohoo! i feel like i might end up wanting to pack a lot of stuff cause i'll be there for 2 months+, but ever since my horrific travel day back from school, i refuse to travel with more than two bags ever again, or atleast for a while until the bruises on my legs and the scars from those memories fade away.
allright. for real this time. pack!
