"uh, you're bleeding"

well, despite the fact that we didn't fare so well in some of the games we played this weekend, and despite the fact that, well, i messed up my nose, i thought this weekend's tournament was really fun. the combination of ben & eugune (the front seat comedy duo), some really good games, and all the girls made this weekend awesome. even the van ride there, at 6.30 AM, was hysterical. for instance, ben and eugune would randomly break into their harry carey SNL routine, with their heads bobbling all around:
"hey mara, whats your favorite planet? mine's the sun."
"hey eugune, if you were the sabbath, would you rest on yourself?"

the first game started really well. i think we scored. the second point of that game, i ran smack into jen's head and broke my nose. i didn't know if it was broken for sure at the time because all i could really focus on was the gallons of blood streaming out of my nose. i surely left my mark on that field. anyway, it bled solidly for an hour, and after that, i just stuffed some toilet paper up my nose, and continued playing. i'm sure that scared whoever was marking me, especially when the blood would seep through and i would have to go change my nose stuffing. the nose kind of swelled up a bit, but as maya thoughtfully reassured me, she wouldn't walk past me on the street and wonder "what the hell happened to that girl?"

our later games were both on and off. our four person cup is pretty solid. i love running it on teams who can't really handle. its like an isntant turnover. however, other games felt like we were uninvovled or something. our basics just broke down. but whatever problems we had on the field were certainly taken care of by our outback steakhouse adventure. sasha and somebody else, yin maybe?, fell asleep while waiting for a table; the host felt so bad for making us wait that he gave us two free appetizers! i remember it being a funny evening, even though i can't remember why. what i do remember, however, was starting to laugh at something (which makes me krinkle my nose up) and then feeling sharp pain. i learned to just let my jaw drop to laugh instead.

today, our second day of play was more or less the same as the first. we should have won games that we lost. especially against fordam. GOOD LORD! (it is so true..whenever i hear this in my head, i hear ben saying it in his outraged southern accent). the best part of today was surely panera bread. SOUP IN A BREAD BOWL!!!! its gotta be one of my favorite meals.

so anyway, we're home now. i didn't have to go into mudd to work on our design project tonight because my group finished whatever we needed to do. woo! i missed our first soccer game, which apparently we lost. wah. and i watched some more tv..the highlight of which was surely arrested development. now i'm passing out, and waking up early to go see if health services can set my nose back in place. i'm kind of uneasy about this resetting process...from what i hear, it will probably be painful. dealing with surprise intense pain is one thing, but anticipitating intense pain and just knowing when its gonna start hurting makes me tense up. ahhhh. i'm already a little nervous.

well, the quote of the tournament certainly when some UNH guy, who came by me to pick up a disc when i still happened to be pouring out blood into a wad of toilet paper, goes "uh, you're bleeding."
NO SHIT!
